Paul Motian/ Bill Evans
Paul Motian Trio feat. Marc Johnson and Quartet in top form playing the music of Bill Evans: always balm for the soul!
Miles Davis/ Decoy
Unbelievable, but true: this record was once presented, together with a video, at peak viewing time on „Willkommen Österreich“. At the moment, though, we Jazz musicians have to make do with a 7 hour night-time radio programme. Don’t get me wrong: I love Jazznacht and respect the journalists and broadcasters, but one must also realise that, as far as the media is concerned, we are very much sidelined. Unfortunately! I’m all for that changing again. J
Apart from that, a great Fusion record!
John Abercrombie/ November
A very beautiful mood with Marc Johnson once again at the peak of his form!
John Coltrane/ Crescent
I love Coltrane´s music and his spiritual and political message!
Miles Davis/ Four and More, My funny Valentine
This record has strongly influenced the playing of many modern rhythm groups....
The Clash/ Sandinista!
Strong lyrics, a wonderful fusion of Ska, Punk and Rock music.
One of the reasons why I make music at all.
Joe Henry/ Fuse
For me, one of the greatest singer/songwriters on this planet and proof that there is an audience for good Pop music. It would be cool if this kind of music were to get more airplay in Austria. A half an hour air time a week is really not enough.
Deep Purple/ Made in Japan
Diese Band begeistert mich in allen Besetzungen und Phasen. Regardless of how bad the long player was, I still have it in my record collection. In a way, it’s similar to a football fan who, for as long as he can remember, has always supported the same team regardless of how well or how badly they play. (If I now confess to being a Wacker Innsbruck fan, you’ll probably close this Homepage immediately.........)
Apart from that, Deep Purple gave their first official concert on 20.4.1968 and „Made in Japan“ is truly and brilliant album: sparkling with playfulness and energy.....
If I have a bad day, I put on this piece of vinyl and all is well with the world!
Black Sabbath/ Sabotage
I´m looking through a hole in the sky.......this band is independent and with Ozzy (Heaven and Hell with Dio was also ok) was really brilliant: musically multifaceted, varied and always looking for something new. In my opinion, Sabotage is the best Sabbath album.
Valentin Silvestrov/ Stille Lieder
I like Schubert and songs. But this record really knocked me out: the power of the Russian language as an instrument (I don’t understand a single word) and the concept of writing a modern song cycle a la Winterreise really works.
